Just a short update today. Following warm and generous hospitality at the Gîte du Reve at Seveux with Roger, his son and fellow guest Serge, I made a reasonably early start to walk the 29km to Gy. The official stage finished 3km up the road, but I failed to obtain accommodation there, so have installed myself in the Hotel Pinocchio.

It was a very hot day, and while I got a good 10km under my belt before the heat and sun became oppressive, there was a lot of walking from shade to shade and gritting teeth during long unsheltered sections.

These areas went in for competitive lavoir or public wash house building. I had lunch in one, a cool and shady respite.

Here are some pictures of my day. An earlier start tomorrow should see me in Besançon in time for lunch, and a rest day following.

Hi Paul. Its good to see you’re having some sunshine at last, though I suspect this won’t make for easy walking (more loafing).Very much enjoying your blogs and I definitely fall in the bedtime reading group, though occasionally (as today), its breakfast reading!

    Sending blessings and prayers 🙏

What a wonderful name “Hotel Pinocchio”. Did it live up to its name?

      They were disappointingly honest, David!
